The arena plans to keep the ice in until late March and also has the opportunity to work a Casino later this year.

The Endiang Community Society held its annual general meeting on Jan. 26 at the Endiang Hall.

Debbie Goeson was newly elected as president of the board. Other executive remain unchanged – Marlene Wallace, Secretary and Leanne Sorensen, Treasurer. Caretaker is Terry Gallant. To rent the Endiang Hall contact Leanne at 403-579-2288.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Vivian Wesner who passed away in Stettler on Jan. 25. She was 95.

Vivian married Lloyd Wesner and was part of the Byemoor community for several years before retiring to Stettler. She is survived by four sons from a previous marriage – Clarke, Grant, Ward and Greg Wallace and their families.

Condolences are sent to the family of Barbara Schilling who passed away on Jan. 29 at the age of 98 years. Barbara Stiles grew up on the farm of her grandparents Henry and Tillie Caswell north of Endiang, where Codee Sorensen lives today, and attended Leader School. She married a neighbour-boy Charlie Schilling and they farmed the Schilling homestead where they raised their family – Yvonne, Joan, Chuck, Doris, Glenna and Morris.

Charlie and Barbara were long-time residents of the Halkirk-Endiang area before retiring to Stettler. They were an out-going couple who supported many events in the various surrounding communities.

Barb was a remarkable woman, remaining active and sharp into her advanced years. She’ll be remembered for her friendly nature, warm smile and being a family-oriented person.

Our thoughts are with her children – Joan (Stan) Broome, Chuck (Jean) Schilling, Doris (Ed) Fuchs, Glenna (Andy) Schuler, Morris (Lorna) Schilling, son-in-law Gordon ‘Tick’ Walker and their families.

Sympathy is sent to Patsy (nee Smith) Burton and family on the sudden passing of her husband Harvey Burton on Feb. 1 at Rimbey. He was 78. Patsy was raised at Endiang on the farm of her mom and step-dad Julia and Ross Groundwater. Our thoughts are with the Burton, Smith and Groundwater families in their sad loss.

We send Happy Birthday wishes to these seniors celebrating February birthdays. Happy Birthday to Eileen Green, 93 on Feb. 1, Eleanor Schultz, 86 on Feb. 7 and Lucy Gutsche, 88 on Feb. 8. Hope you had a good day, ladies.
