1926 – 2011

Mr. William “Bill” Magee a lifelong resident of Stettler, Alberta passed away in Stettler on July 2, 2011 at the age of 84 years. Bill was born in Stettler on October 21, 1926 the eldest son of Harry and Jean (nee McTaggart) Magee. Bill lost his Mother when he was only twelve and with the love and support of his Dad and the Stettler community, the family managed to move forward. Bill finished high school in Stettler before attending Olds College from 1946 to 1947. He then attended SAIT from 1947 to 1948. On June 27, 1951, Bill married the love of his life Ruth Lindemann. Together they raised three children, Harry, Bill and Susan. Bill loved working on the land and handling livestock. In 1985, Bill and Ruth left the farm but remained passionately interested in farm life. Family was Bill’s top priority. In February of 2001 due to failing health, Bill moved into Heritage House where he spent his remaining years. Bill is survived by Ruth, his loving wife and devoted friend, his sons Harry (June) and Bill (Jennifer) and his daughter Susan (Gerald) Vikse. He is also survived by grandchildren Clay (Jacqui) Vikse, Erin (Sheldon) Scyrup, Jenna Vikse, Megan (Jason) Johnson, Candice Magee, Shaun Magee, Christopher (Jamie)Filion, Fraser Magee, Bobbi Magee, great-grandchildren Broc Johnson, Lucia Johnson, Tyler Magee, Brooklyn Magee, Ethan Scyrup, and Cali Scyrup as well as other relatives and many very dear friends. He was predeceased by his Mother Jean, his father Harry, stepmother Marion (nee Aunger), brother Jim and sister-in-law Sheila (Blakely). A memorial service will be held at the Brennen Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Debbie Stockdale of the Stettler United Church officiating. Immediately following the service a lunch will be served in the Brennen Funeral Home Reception Area. As an expression of sympathy, and in loving memory of Bill memorial contributions may be made to the Stettler Health Services Foundation in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.O.
