ANDERSON

It is with heavy hearts that his family shares his passing on June 3, 2016. Thomas Lennart Anderson was born on Feb. 22, 1956 (60 years old) to Phyllis and Lennart Anderson of Rumsey, AB, their third child. Tom, from an early age embraced the farm life and eventually succeeded his father in the 1980s, where he continued to farm until 2012. Along the way, he met his wife Karen Hansen of Munson and they were married Nov. 8, 1986 and then had three children together. He was active in his community and was a long-time member of the Rumsey Fire Department and also volunteered his time on the Rumsey Ag Society throughout the years. Tom, who always had a passion for flying, built his own Ultralight and it brought him many hours of joy. Family and friends were most important to Tom and he treasured the relationships that he had with his loved ones. Along with family trips, Tom and Karen started to travel together as their children grew up. Although he loved his time on the farm, he was looking forward to the next phase of his life in retirement, continuing to travel and to enjoy watching their children marry and start families of their own. In recent years he enjoyed taking road trips with his friends on their motorbikes. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile upon his face, and loved to tease and joke around. Hard working, loyal, compassionate and kind are just a few of words that we could use to describe our Tom. Sadly me was diagnosed with brain cancer in June 2014 and he faced this battle as he did all things in life - with grace and dignity. He leaves to mourn his wife of 29 years, Karen Anderson, his daughter Marci Nemetz (Jerritt), grandsons Jack and Breck, daughter Chelsey Anderson, son Justin (fiancee Kennady), his mother Phyllis Anderson (predeceased by his father, Len), his brothers Larry and Jeff, and his sister Judy Mimnaugh and their families, along with a host of close in-laws, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 2 p.m. in the Rumsey Community Hall. Private family burial. Donations in his name can be made to Rumsey Ag Society re: the Kitchen Hall fund reno.
