Stella PETERSON

February 17, 2010

PETERSON

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma Stella Genevieve Peterson at the age of 93 years and 9 months. After visits from her grandchildren Stella passed away at Heritage House in Stettler surrounded by her son Ray and wife Darlene, daughter Donna and husband Ken and granddaughter Deb and husband Darren. She will always be missed by her family who loved her dearly. Stella was born in Arelee, Saskatchewan, the middle child of Alice Dorothy and James Geddes Young. Growing up she always wanted to be a teacher, this did not materialize for her. That was too bad as she was a kind, patient and caring person.

She moved north from Arelee to Sikip, in the Dorintosh area, on October 2, 1932. She married Roy Peterson on November 28, 1933. To this union two sons were born - Ray in 1935 and Dell in 1936. Roy passed away at their farm on October 21, 1937. She carried on the best she could. On March 2, 1942 she married Albert Peterson. They had one daughter Donna in 1946. They remained on the farm at Sikip, west of Dorintosh, until they moved into Dorintosh in 1946. In 1951 they moved to Meadow Lake making it their home until moving to Lloydminster in 1967 where their daughter and husband lived. Albert passed away September 20, 1978. She remained in Lloydminster until Donna and Ken moved to Stettler, Alberta. 1989 took her back to live in Meadow Lake where both her sons and their families lived. She lived in the Villa until moving to Stettler to be close again to her daughter. She lived in Paragon Place until she could no longer keep up with daily living chores. The decision to move into the Nursing Home came February 14, 2001. During this time she had the devastating loss of her son Dell on July 13, 2002 due to health reasons. She moved into Heritage House for her remaining years, and while there suffered the loss of her youngest sister Edna on August 31, 2007.
