Shirley Vanak resident of Seasons Olds passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

Shirley was born in Brooks, Alberta on September 8, 1935. She lived in Duchess, AB while growing up. She took a job at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Brooks. During that time, she met her future husband, Mike Vanak. After a short courtship, they married on December 28, 1953. They were married for 63 years until the passing of Mike in 2017. Shirley loved gardening, camping and especially cooking. She also loved her family, friends, and all furry ones.

Shirley is survived by her brother Roger of Regina; children Wendy (Ron), Terry (Trudy), Lori (Stewart), Michael (Shirley); grandchildren Jeremy (Crystal), Josh (Chantal), Ryan (Samantha), Erin, Riley, Kenda l(Mitchell Payne), Caitlin, Chandra, Courtney and 13 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents Peter and Anne Hildebrand; husband Mike Vanak; sister Marguerite; daughter-in-law Sharlene Vanak; and grandson Jason Vanak.

She will be truly missed by her family and friends and all the staff at Seasons Olds. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ-King Catholic Church Stettler, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Salvation Army.
