April 12, 1951 - December 31, 2023

In Loving Memory ~

Ruby Chesla passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, after a brief battle with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. She was 72.

Ruby was born on April 12, 1951, in Sexsmith, Alberta. Ruby was raised in Grande Prairie and after high school, she soon met her future husband Ted in Edmonton through mutual friends.

After just over a year of dating, they married, and that love grew into their three boys, Kelly, Terry and Cory.

In 1981, Ted and Ruby purchased a family farm and relocated to Stettler, where Ruby, a "city girl" proved that she could flourish on the farm.

Ted and Ruby sold the farm in 1998. Summers were then spent camping and golfing close to home with their children, grandchildren and dear friends. It was not long after that Ted and Ruby became enthusiastic travelers and have many fond memories traveling the Continental USA and Canada in their holiday trailer with many friends.

She is survived by her loving family; sons Kelly (Kasey), Terry (Kristine), and Cory; grandchildren Nolan, Jake, Laia, Lauren, Callum; sisters Marion Biron, Donna Laughy, and Dianne (Norm) Jackson, sisters-in-law Josie Cena and Debbie Villeneuve.

Ruby was predeceased by her husband Ted; parents Isabelle and Clarence Wicks; sister Shirley Lindblom and her husband Marvin Lindblom; brothers-in-law Andy Biron, Walter Chesla, and Ted Cena; nephews Jeff Cena and Norman Jackson; and parents-in-law Nellie and John Chesla.

A celebration of Ruby's life was held on Saturday, January 13, 2023. People wishing to honor Ruby's lifelong commitment to family and the community of Stettler, can make donations to the Stettler Health Services Foundation - Palliative Care Unit, Bag 500, Stettler, Alberta, T0C 2L0.
