December 17, 1957 - February 1, 2021
Ross was born December 17, 1957 to Don and Lorna Deems.
Ross grew up on the original Deems farm. From the very moment he started to walk Mom and Dad noticed his love for animals, and always had a pet his whole life.
Ross went to school in Erskine and then to high school in Stettler. He enjoyed the farm life but at the time it was not an option. He took an automotive course in Fort McMurray but not too many opportunities in that field so off to the oil patch.
He worked the rigs and later at the Nevis gas plant and got his Millwright ticket. He used it to work on various jobs in Red Deer and Joffre expansions. Ross had an awesome sense of humour and made people laugh whenever they talked with him.
In 2000's he had to fight Leukemia and managed to beat it without ever complaining or asking for any help. We gave it to him, and he would always say I'm gonna owe you. He was always generous his whole life, to us and his friends.
In 2018 he was diagnosed with liver disease and the same thing, he never asked for help. Unfortunately, the fight was tougher, and it took him away from us. He was our brother, but we will always remember him as a friend. He will be missed by Dale, Marilyn and family.
Ross is survived by his brother Dale Deems of Erskine, AB; sister Marilyn (Dennis) Barkley of Calgary, AB; nephews Lance Barkley and Lyle Barkley; niece Lori Barkley as well as other family and dear friends.
Ross was predeceased by his parents Donald and Lorna Deems and brother Gordon Deems. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
