ROSE ANNE MARIE (SWENSON) ENNIS CRAWFORD

February 6, 1929 - December 10, 2011

Surrounded by the love of her family and friends both near and far, our precious wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, sister and aunt, Rose, peacefully passed away at the Stettler Hospital at the age of 82. We will all miss her dearly, and are grateful for her life and her strength of spirit that will live on in all of us. Rose is pre-deceased by her parents, Albert and Esther Swenson, her brothers, Roy, Bobby, Lawrence and George; her sister, Helen; her first love and husband, Bob; and son, Barry; nephew, Larry and niece, Karen. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dianne (David) and Brian (Marianne); daughter-in-law, Kathy (Barry); sister, Betty (Chuck), and husband, Fred; as well as all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends, including residents and staff at Paragon Place where she moved after Bob's passing.

Rose and Bob settled in Bowness where they started their family, having Dianne and two years later the twins, Brian and Barry. Her family was her focus and she was also a driving force in her church community at Foothills United, where she developed many deep friendships that she maintained throughout her life.

Rose and Bob enjoyed a long retirement that began with an acre of garden in Nevis where they planted and tended the vegetables they grew for the Stettler and Red Deer farmers' markets. They spent many winters in Arizona and continued to make many friends along the way. Rose was known for her gift of hospitality and her love of sweets, so it was difficult when she was diagnosed with celiac disease and wasn't able to enjoy those cookies and cakes any more. She faced many challenges in her life but always found a way to make the best of her circumstances.

The family would like to thank the staff at Paragon Place and Stettler Regional Hospital for their love and care over the years. If desired, donations may be made to the Stettler Regional Hospital in memory of Rose.

According to her wishes, Rose was cremated and will be interred at Queen's Park Cemetery in Calgary with Bob. Memorial Service will be held at the Stettler Funeral Home (4707-70 Street) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 followed by a tea at Paragon Place (5011-55 Street).
