Ronald William Deems (Ronnie) passed away March 8, 2017. He was born August 1, 1981 in Stettler. Ronnie grew up in Erskine, went to Wm. E Hay High School in Stettler and later to Olds College. He worked at New Alta for the last seven years.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Carrie; sons Hunter (four years) and Henry (nine months); his parents Derwin and Linda; brothers Ryan (Amber) and their son Jack, Ray (Erin); sister (cousin) Kim; parents in law Alan (Louise) Parsons and Leona Copeland; grandmas Louise Armstrong and Donna Combest; other relatives and many dear friends. Ronnie was predeceased by his aunt JoAnn Deems, grandpas Bill Armstrong, Ronnie Deems and family friend Al Johnson. “Family is not an important thing, it is EVERYTHING!!”
Funeral services were held on March 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Stettler Funeral Home with family friend, Pastor James Choi officiating. The service was truly a loving tribute dedicated to Ronnie’s life. Kent Armstrong, Rod & Alicia Armstrong, Raymond and Ryan Deems gave loving tributes. Carly Armstrong sang “Hallelujah”. Carrie, the boys and several friends honoured Ronnie’s memory with the ‘last dance’. Honorary Pallbearers were his beloved boys Hunter and Henry, Jack Deems, Terry George, Danny Scheller, Kim Deems, Kent Armstrong, Craig Armstrong, Rod and Alicia Armstrong; active pallbearers were Ray Deems, Ryan Deems, Troy Butterfield, Myles Hazen, Chris Carstairs and Jim MacDougall as Ronnie was laid to rest in Erskine Cemetery.
