WALKER

Robert Harold Walker (Bob) passed away after a short fight with cancer at his home on Friday, December 25, 2009 at the age of 75 years. Bob was the fifth child of thirteen children blessed to Harry and Bessie Walker and was born in Hanna, AB on October 22, 1934. In April of 1958 he married Evelyn Kobi then in 1959 they moved to Rumsey, Alberta where Bob was employed with Searle Grain Company and during the 9 years in Rumsey four sons were born: Wes, Les, Clint and Lyle. Bob's desire to become a farmer was fulfilled in 1967 when he got the opportunity to purchase his grandfather's farm (then owned by his uncle Phil Walker.) Bob was very proud of the plaque that was presented to him and his family this past June on the 100th year anniversary of the above mentioned farm. He kept it in the house to show off with plans to mount the plaque this coming summer on a big rock located on the property. He was an early riser and hard worker who took pride with his farming and his cattle herd. He was a good friend and neighbour who could be called upon for a helping hand or advice at any time day or night. Bob had a dry wit and colourful sense of humour with a pinch of sarcasm tossed in. He will be sorely missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. Bob was surrounded by his family on his passing. He is survived by his wife Evelyn; his sons Wes (Robin), Les, Clint (Tammy), Lyle (Charlene); five wonderful grandchildren Jeanna, Chelsea, Deanne, Justin and Michelle. Also by his brothers: Buster, Ken, Dennis (Sally), Donnie (Joy), Allen (Renny); his sisters: Jeanne Sinclair (Mac), Joyce Moore (Dick), Winnie Paulsen, Doris Schilling (Roy), Deanna Johnson (Doug), Lynda Wilkie (Clifford); brothers in law Rod Rarick, Benny Kobi, Harold (Maxine), Bill (Theresa), Gordon (Della), Norm Kelly; sisters in law Mary Wilkie (Lawrence), Jane Kobi and Betty Kobi; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Harry and mother Sarah Elizabeth (Bessie), younger sister Judy, brothers in law Paul Paulsen, Edwin Kobi, Lloyd Kobi; sisters in law Betty Walker, Ann Walker, Colleen Walker, Lillian Kobi, and Lorraine Kelly. A Celebration of Life was held in the Byemoor Community Hall, Byemoor, AB with Rev. Debbie Stockdale officiating. Lorraine Coulthard played the piano for the congregational hymns. Jack Hayden, Chelsea Walker and Michelle Walker gave tributes and Jeanna Walker read a poem. Family and friends remained at the Byemoor Hall to continue to share stories and a luncheon supplied by the Byemoor Ladies. Memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Box 1780, Stettler, AB T0C 2L0. Sympathies may be forwarded to the family by signing the guestbook at www.stettlerfuneralhome.com.
