After a courageous battle with heart and kidney disease the family is heartbroken to announce that Richard Allan Jones of Edmonton, AB, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones at the age of 73 years.
Richard leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Roberta Jones; son, Rick Jones; daughter, Connie (Brian) Mattison; a legacy of five grandchildren, Tiffany Scoular (Daril Spring), Tanice (Mark) Beglajter, Shayna Jones (Joe Lea), Christopher Jones and Katie Jones (Daniel Kaurin), seven great grandchildren, Wake, Alexandra, Molly, Desmond, Dustin, Arianna and Hartley; brother, Bob Jones; sister, Barb (Brian) Lang; half siblings, Sheryle (Bob) Williams, Gerry Skowronski, John Skowronski and Jane Skowronski; sisters-in-law, Karen Jones and Maryellen Jones; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Eric and Anne; and loving brother, John.
Born in Byemoor, AB, he had a very full life living in many places in Alberta. His work was mainly comprised of driving truck from BC to Ontario and into the Yukon and Northwest Territories. He was loved and respected by many and would never shy away from giving a helping hand be it getting his hands dirty or giving advice, sometimes with just a hint of sarcasm. He will always be remembered for his amazing love for his family, especially the "babies". Papa loved all of his babies and was always waiting for their visits to watch them play and screech their lungs out. He would always say "They are just kids let them play." then cringe and roll his eyes as they squealed
At Richard's request no service will be held. A get together will take place in the summer for friends and family to attend and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in tribute to the CK Hui Heart Centre.
