GRAHAM - Richard Alvin - 1911 - 2009. Mr. Richard “Alvin” Graham passed away on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at the age of 97 years. Alvin was born March 21, 1911 in New Westminster, B.C. He moved to Alberta and was a mink farmer in the Lac La Biche area. Alvin married the love of his life Fern in 1933. Over the years, Alvin worked as a truck driver and dragline operator. He also farmed nine miles south of Botha, AB for six years. He then moved to Stettler, AB in 1956 and worked as a caterpillar operator. In the years to follow he bought a trucking company and it was called CNR Deliveries. Alvin worked for the driving business for over 25 years until he retired. He was a layman for the Stettler United Church for many years and gave sermons to small communities around Stettler during that time. Alvin enjoyed visiting, playing cord piano, flower gardening, playing crib, listening to music and playing his accordion and harmonica. Alvin is survived by his daughter Patricia Graham of Stettler and his son Rick (Donna) Graham of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren Tanya, Kathy (Mervin), Ashley (Rob) and Erika (Bryce) and great-grandchildren Abbey and Erik. He is also survived by his brother John (Norma) Graham of Red Deer, numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives and many dear friends. Alvin was predeceased by his wife Fern, one grandson Joe Ramsay and sisters Jesse Jackson, Chrissie Rushton, Gloria Tees and Belle Herbert. A funeral service was held at the Brennen Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mervyn Penfound officiating. A reception followed in the Brennen Funeral Home Reception Area and was graciously served by Ruby from Harry¹s Kitchen.
