March 15, 1931 - May 30, 2019
Richard "Dick" Wells passed away peacefully at Heritage House in Stettler on May 30, 2019.
He was born to Clarence and Inga on March 15, 1931 in Radville, Saskatchewan. He attended school in Radville, where he met his future wife, Helen Lacaille. Dick and Helen were wed on July 13, 1953 in Regina. They began raising their family in Radville until they moved to Red Deer, Alberta in 1960, where Dick began working for Simpson Sears.
In 1962, the family moved to Stettler, Alberta where Dick managed Sims Furniture, which he eventually bought and renamed "Wells Furniture Ltd". Dick would spend many enjoyable hours visiting and serving his customers. It became the family business with Helen and the boys all working there at some point, until he and Helen retired in 1989, and became snowbirds. Dick not only enjoyed watching his sports, but played hockey, slo-pitch and golf as well as camping with family and friends. Dick and Helen moved back to Red Deer in 2005.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Helen and children; Brian (Pam), Dale (Barb), Terry (Lols), Sharon (Dale). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Michelle (Delaine), Jennifer, Angela (Mike), Lisa, Mark (Ann Louise), Ashley, Troy (Nicole), Tyler, Brent (Meagan) and Corey (Jess), as well as 13 great grandchildren and brother Don of St. Albert and sister- in-law Florence of Brandon. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Heritage House for the care and attention Dick received during his time there.
A Private Family Service will be held, with arrangements entrusted to Eventide Funeral Home of Red Deer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
