It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Merill Swanson announce his passing on July 16, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Dick will be forever missed by his loving wife, Gladys Marion, daughters Donna (Ken) and Jonni (Bob), son Doug (Helen), seven grandchildren: Nan-Michelle, Kyla, Rob, Jason, Jennifer, Shauna and Rick, eleven great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Caden, Pierce, Eden, Silas, Naomi, Nyla, Brooke, Kara, Griffin and Alexa. Dick was predeceased by his father David, his mother Maud, his two brothers, Morley and Beryl. The family would like to extend our gratitude to very professional health care providers at Heritage House who provided loving care to Dick, Pastor Ross Helgeton who made countless visits to Dick's bedside and Pastor Julian Price who officiated the celebration of Dick's life. Dick was born in Vermilion, Alberta where he was married to Gladys and began their family. The family moved to Stettler in 1957 where Dick was employed with Weston Bakeries for 38 years, serving his customers from Stettler to the Eastern Alberta border. Gladys and Dick continued to enjoy their many friends and community activities in their retirement. A celebration of Dick's life was held at Heartland Chapel of the Stettler Funeral Home on July 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM. In memory, donations can be made to Stettler Health Services Foundation - Heritage House or charity of the donor's choice.
