April 10, 1930 - September 24, 2018
Richard Alexander Hubert passed away on September 24, 2018 at the age of 88 years.

Richard was born April 10, 1930 in Ashern, Manitoba. His parents Alvina and William Hubert, brothers Wilfred and Harold lived in Spearhill, Manitoba. Richard was baptized in a little church five miles away. The family then moved to Roche Percee, Saskatchewan. He was confirmed in Estevan. From Estevan, they moved to Moose Jaw, where Richard attended Trade School. The family then moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1950. Richard took his Master Electrician while working out of Calgary with the company ECM (electrical contracting and machines). He worked on a crew that traveled Alberta converting grain elevators on the prairies from gas to electricity. 1953 found Richard living in Big Valley and working Residential and some Oil Field in the County of Stettler. In 1956 he started a job at BA Nevis Gas Plant / Gulf Oil.

Richard and Mary met in Big Valley, fell in love and were married August 8, 1956 in Stettler at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Debora arrived in 1958, Kim in 1960 and Susan in 1963.

Richard began working at Hudson Bay Oil and Gas at Sylvan Lake in 1964. He continued his education taking his Instrumentation Trade and then a Certified Engineer Tech.

Now as a Contractor managing Gas Plant construction, electrical and instrumentation builds, he worked all over Alberta, Northern BC and two or three natural gas plants in Quebec.

In 1991 he decided to leave this all behind and concentrate more on grandkids and sailing. Don't be fooled and this may sound dry, but Richard's working life was not all he managed to fit in. His walk with God is strong. His love for his family overflowing and his-sense of adventure and fun incomprehensible!!!

Richard was very active in his church family attending Lutheran League and Bible studies. He helped with the arrival of the pipe organ in St. Peter Lutheran Church, served on the council and wired the original church building at the present site. Worship was important, and he loved to sing praise to God with the sound of the pipes!

Richard set a good example how to live with patience and kindness and did it all with a smile. He was a wonderful role model.

Richard is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth; children: Debora (Ron) Vanlanduyt, Kim (Christine) Hubert and Susan Posma; grandchildren: Chelsey Vanlanduyt, Whitney (Carson) Sutton, Bryce Vanlanduyt, Travis Vanlanduyt, David (Coreina) Hubert, Jennifer (Don Rasmussen) Robinson, Ashley (Davis) Gray, Cheryl (Jack Hart) Hubert, Geoffrey (Jennifer) Posma and Jamie Posma; great-grandchildren: Brooks, Clark, Levi, Ayden, Ashton, Jessi, Jordyn, Cole, Morgan, Brooke, Evan, Aquay, Brian and Kashton; sisters-in-law: Darlene Hrabchuk and Betty Wroe as well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends.
