SCHROEDER

Reinhold (Reiny) Albert

May 27, 1931 - January 12, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Reiny leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Shirley (Wilson), children Duane (Bev) Schroeder of Edmonton, Wenda (Brian) Barrett of Boyanup, Australia, Charlene (Bob) Muir of North Vancouver, and Randy (Louise) Schroeder of Port Coquitlam, grandchildren Elli Barrett, Asha Barrett, Hannah Schroeder, Charlie Muir and Michael Muir, elder brother Ed Schroeder (Yvette) of Creston.

Reiny was born in Burstall, Saskatchewan to Rudolf and Olga Schroeder. In 1943, they moved to a farm near Esther, Alberta. He married Shirley in 1954, and over the years, they farmed in Esther and Stettler, then resided in Lacombe and Red Deer. Reiny will be remembered by all for his honesty, his fierce independence and for being a very protective husband and loving father. He loved to travel, whether it was by holiday trailer to the West Coast and Arizona, or overseas to Australia and New Zealand. He had an incredible knack for reciting poetry, and took any opportunity to entertain all who would listen. He had a love for sports, participating in baseball, curling, golf, billiards and fishing.

As per Reiny's wishes, there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton for their wonderful care of Reiny in his final stages of life.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
