INNOCENT – Ralph passed away at the Stettler Health Care Centre on April 16, 2008 at the age of 89. Born at Stettler, AB on Aug. 8, 1918, he was raised east of Big Valley, AB then moved to his own farm east of Stettler. Ralph and Edith (Taylor) were married April 2, 1948. To this union three daughters were born, Diana, Laura, Cindy and one son Bill. Ralph trailed horses to the Calgary Stampede and drove thoroughbred chuckwagons for 11 years. He took his outfit to Vancouver by rail in 1945. He judged wagons at the Calgary Stampede for a number of years. He was one of the founders of the Alberta Pony Chuckwagon and Chariot Association, driving his own chariot for many years. He never missed a race meet or horse show in the area. Many children throughout the Stettler area experienced the enjoyment of using Ralph’s ponies for the summer. Ralph also worked at the Stettler Auction Mart for 31 years. He was honoured by the Stettler Agriculture Society in 2000 for his contributions. Horses were his life’s work and passion and his enthusiasm was felt by all. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Florence Innocent; three infant siblings; brothers, Ken and Murray Innocent; sister Florence Cox; brothers-in-law Doug McKercher, Tom Cox, Wilf McMahon and Jim Isaacs; Ralph is survived by his wife Edith; son Bill (Sherri); daughters, Cindy (Vic) Moisan, Laura (Bernie) McGowan and Diana (Rod) Glass; grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, Kimberly, Cherie (Tim), Susanne (Blaine), Randy, Beverly (Steve), and Brian (Tiffany); great-grandson Wyatt; sisters, Marion McKercher, Mary (Bob) Thomson and Dorothy Isaacs. brothers, John (Volley) and Don (Rose); sisters-in-law Emma and Madeleine; numerous other family members and many good friends. Funeral service was held in The Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2008. Interment followed in the Lake View Cemetery, Stettler.
