Phyllis Jean McDavid

Jean McDavid (Phyllis), a long-time resident of Stettler and more recently Edmonton passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Jean will be best remembered as a passionate supporter of her family. She was born in Calgary (1930) to parents Reverend Charles S. and Phyllis Pinder. Jean had three brothers, Roy, Jack and Blair of whom she was exceedingly close and proud. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Nanton and Stettler. While in Stettler she met and married Don McDavid. Don had recently returned from overseas serving as a Flying Officer in the Royal Canadian Airforce and was beginning his career as a teacher and school principal. To this union two children were born, Doug (Georgianna) and Sharla (Eddie deceased). Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren; Christopher (Jill), Alison (Brian), Nathan (Sara) and Jeanaine (Lewis) and her nine great grandchildren; Brookelyn, Jace, Brayden, Ethan, Luke, Parker, Evan, Julia and Sam.
Jean spent her working life in Stettler serving as the office manager at the Stettler Medical Centre. This association allowed her to know almost everyone in the Town of Stettler and Stettler community. Jean made lifelong friends in Stettler and has maintained those friendships over the years. Jean was an avid curler and golfer. She was overjoyed to watch her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sports, excel in school and perform in music recitals and music productions.
Jean had a good sense of humour and loved to entertain especially her friends and husband's teaching colleagues who often met at their home for staff Christmas celebrations and other impromptu occasions and get togethers.
There will be a funeral to celebrate Jean's life at Riverbend United Church, 14907-45 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (off of Riverbend Road) September 21st., 2019 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers Jean asked that donations be made to the Riverbend United Church, Special Projects (senior large print Hymnaries and sound system) or a charity of your choice.
