Mr. Peter Chitrenky was born in 1922 on October 20 in Northbank, Alberta the fourth son of Alex and Maria Chitrenky.

The family moved to Calgary where he received his education at Crescent Heights High School and Calgary Normal School. In 1941 he taught at Behrens School and in 1942 at Ewing School.

In 1943 he joined the army and served overseas with the Calgary Highlanders in Holland and Germany. In December of 1946 he married Jean Bateup in Cranleigh, Surrey, England and returned to Canada in January 1947.

He attended the University of Alberta graduating with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 1949. He then moved to Nevis, Alberta with his wife Jean and daughter Anne where he taught school for five years.

Then the family moved to Botha for seven years where daughter Pauline was born. In 1961 the family moved to Stettler where he taught at Wm. E. Hay Composite High School for 25 years retiring in 1986.

Peter is survived by his daughters Anne Donahue (Dale Lyster) of Stettler and Pauline Auld (David Quon) of Calgary; grandchildren: Sean (Jean) Donahue of Stettler, Robert (Michelle) Auld of Calgary and David Auld of Vancouver; great-grandchildren: Michael (Damera) Donahue, Shea Donahue and Ella Auld; adopted great-granddaughter Baylee Gilpin; sisters-in-law Marian Chitrenky of Calgary and Joan Bateup of PEI; nieces Suzanne and Jane Bateup as well as other nieces, nephews in both Canada and England; many former students, dear colleagues and friends.

Peter was predeceased by his wife Jean Chitrenky, his sister Virginia (Harris) Clarke, brothers and sisters-in-law: John (Alice), Harry, Paul and Walter (Evelyn) Chitrenky.

Celebration of Peter's Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with a service starting at 2:00 P.M.
