Penny Lynn Kelly (Filipenko) passed away in her home peacefully on March 30, 2021 at the age of 67 years old. Penny was a loving mother of Shauna Kelly and grandson Shaun.
Penny will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Sharon (Paul) and her nieces and nephews- Steven (Selena), Cheryl (Larry), Shelley (Jeremy), Scott and Stacey (Shawn); her great nieces and nephews- Meriah, Isaiah, Hope, Kayla, Aubrey, Harper and Cole; along with her Heck cousins and family; Joan, Norma (Bill), Ted (Barbra), Cathy (George), Susan (Cam), Bob, Edie (Roger), Christine (Gerry), John (Tasha) and her best friends Delton Smith and Brenda Jarvis.
Penny is predeceased by her husband, Don Sitter; Shauna's father, Ray Kelly and parents - Elizabeth and Michael Filipenko, Aunt and Uncle Charles and Mary Heck and cousin Linda Scott.
Penny was born on April 24, 1953 in Stettler, AB. Penny grew up under the loving care of both her parents and much beloved 'Granny.' She was a spunky little girl who always had a wonderful sense of humour.
School days meant helping in the kitchen to feed boarders who were also like family members, staying with the Filipenko family for many years. Penny could cook, work, and clean better and faster than anyone else.
She was a friendly and helpful co-owner of 'Penny's Knit Shop' on Main Street in Stettler. She was successful in professional cooking for work crews up north. Penny loved the fun days at Buffalo Lake where she went fishing with her dad and joined in on the water skiing, swimming, 'Kick the Can' games and evening wiener roasts.
A Celebration of Life will be postponed until Summer 2021 at Buffalo Lake.
