SKOW (ERICKSON)

Pearl Annie

In the early hours of December 17, 2011 Pearl Skow - Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend to many, peacefully passed away with her daughter Karen and family by her side. Pearl was born on October 03, 1923 to Abe and Annie (Tipman) Erickson in Stettler. Pearl had one sister Jean and two brothers George and Eddie. Pearl was predeceased by her husband Peder on March 27, 2004, her father on December 26, 1965, her mother on July 28, 1974, as well as her siblings.

Pearl met Peder at a dance at Zenith Hall on May 23, 1941. They were married on December 06, 1943. Together they farmed in Stettler and had four children: Douglas, James, Harvey and Karen. In 1967 Peder, Pearl and family moved to Edmonton where they lived for 25 years. During those years Pearl was always connected to Stettler. Every year for ten years Peder and Pearl would take their four grandchildren to the family farm for a two week stay to learn how their fathers grew up. Pearl even had to wash diapers the first two years. They both had great pride doing this. Pearl was an active member of the Ladies of the Royal Purple in Stettler, then 25 years in Edmonton, and then returning to Stettler where had she joined in 1958. During Pearl's years she made a lot of friends in both places. In the city Pearl would love to bake every day and always shared it with the neighbors. They loved her fresh bread, especially when it was delivered hot with a smile and love. One neighbor, Doreen Lindsay, secretly entered Pearl's bread in a contest and later that day brought Pearl the ribbon she won for second place. Pearl entered her bread for the next three years and won a ribbon each year. Gardening was another passion of Pearls'. She would always grow a big garden with a bounty of vegetables from it. Pearl had many passions however those were her two favorites. Pearl loved her family, relatives and the many friends from the west coast all the way to Europe and Australia.

Pearl will be forever loved and deeply missed by her children: Doug (Diane) of Regina, SK, Jim (Bernice) of Stettler, AB, Harvey (Helen) of Beaumont, AB and Karen (Bern) of Richmond, BC; grandchildren: Jason (Sara) of Sherwood Park, Chantal (Dana) of Regina, Nadine and Spencer of Edmonton; great grandchildren: Finn, Andy and Jasper of Sherwood Park; niece Janet (Roy) MacAhonic of Strome; nephew Paulli (Hanne) Martin of France as well as numerous relatives and friends.
