ANDERSON

Patricia Eva Anderson passed away suddenly at her home on the family farm on December 26, 2016. She was born in the Stettler Hospital on August 17, 1935. She was 2 months premature, so was a fighter from the word go.

Pat married Harvey Anderson on January 15, 1953 and together they started their purebred Charolais herd. They continued farming until Harvey's passing on October 9, 1993.

Pat was very involved in the community, with the Union Hall Ladies and the United Church Women. She ran her own ceramics shop in Erskine. Pat made and decorated wedding and birthday cakes and every kind of cake in between. She loved nothing better than watching her many beautiful flowers bloom every year in her garden. She enjoyed her dogs (Skippy, Bandit and Sparky) but had a special place in her heart for Mark and Brenna's dog "Lily" who she fed treats almost on a daily basis with a paw shake. Pat also loved her cats (Polly, Mindy, Bubba and Winnie) and was always trying to befriend a new one onto the deck so she could help another one of God's creatures. She spent so much time doing things for people that it did not seem that she took time for herself but she did. Pat went to Montreal in 1976 for the World Expo and took the kids to Disneyland. Pat and her friend Judy also went to the World Figure Skating Championships for a week. She knitted every child and grandchild at least one afghan as she loved to knit and sew. Her greatest love was for her grandchildren. Many hockey, volleyball, basketball and baseball games were watched and she loved every minute of them.

Pat is survived by her children Gary Anderson of Consort, Donna (Steve) Kudras of Erskine, Cathie (Paul) Govang of Sherwood Park, Christine (Wilf) Swan of Red Deer, David Anderson of Whitecourt; grandchildren Scott (Amy) Kudras, Mark (Brenna) Kudras, Rick (Dara) Kudras, Terri Swan, Victoria (Troy) Thomas, Caitlin Swan and Jenna Swan, Vanessa Wright, Corrie (Inez) Barker; great grandchildren Grayson and Declan Giroux, Olivia and Addilyn Thomas, Jaxon and Cohen Kudras, Kaysen and Khloe Kudras, Mackenzie Gauvin, Kendle Martin and Joshua Barker. Pat is also survived by one brother

Doug (Jo-Anne) Parr of Innisfail, AB; one sister Jo (Ron) Slack of Red Deer, AB; sister in law Toots Anderson of Stettler, AB; brother in law John (Helen) Anderson of Erskine; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of many friends.

Pat was predeceased by her husband Harvey; great grandchildren John and Jackie Wright and her parents Art and Eva Parr.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Heartland Chapel of the Stettler Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara Lieurance of Erskine United Church officiating. Tributes were given by Pat's grandchildren. Evelyn Strandquist shared her musical ministry in the leading of the hymns. The pallbearers were all of the grandchildren and the honorary pallbearers were the Erskine United Church Women, Union Hall Ladies, and the Ceramic Ladies. The interment will take place in the spring in Erskine Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Erskine Cemetery or to the Stettler Health Services Foundation c/o Stettler Funeral Home, Box 1780, Stettler, AB, T0C 2L0. Sympathies may be forwarded to the family by signing the guestbook at www.stettlerfuneralhome.com.
