Otto Nicklom lived a full and amazing life, in his 97 years he left little to be accomplished. Otto passed away peacefully in the early morning hours to begin his next journey.
Otto is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Gladys (Soop); children Dianne Allen, Melodie Peters; grandchildren Ryana Mather, Lonnie Allen, Jesse Allen, Angelica Peters, Archer Peters; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Robicheau Allen, Payton Mather, Masen Mather; sons-in-law Dale Allen, Les Peters. Otto is survived by his sisters Betty Sideritsch and Verna Spitzig.
Otto is pre-deceased by his father Cost "August" Nicklom and his mother Pauline (Furman) and eight siblings (Julius, Bill, Carl, Ferdie, Rudy, Henry, Olga, Rose).
Otto lived a full life, was the life of the party and left an everlasting impression on those who crossed his path. One could say he was a legend in his time, influencing many and embracing friendships that have been cultivated and cherished for decades. His infectious laughter, twinkle in his eye and large personality made everyone feel welcome and appreciated.
Farming was his livelihood just west of Big Valley; he was considered a top-notch famer and a good manager of the land. During all those years he was an avid baseball player, member of the Elks, and travelled to many countries in the world with his wife Gladys.
In 1995, Otto at 75 years retired from farming and moved into their brand new home in Stettler. Otto and Gladys enjoyed their home for many years and had the opportunity to grow old with each other and live life to the fullest with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In November 2016, they moved into Points West.
There is no mistake; Otto Nicklom lived life on his own terms. He was a proud, humble man, with a gentle spirit. To live a life of passion, honesty and determination, this truly is a legacy Otto has left us. He certainly was a one-of-a-kind character that will never be forgotten.
Family, friends and the community celebrated Otto's life on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Stettler Funeral Home. The Family thanks all those that attended and who were a part of Otto's life.
