SAVAGE, Murray Allan


Murray Allan Savage was born in Stettler, Alberta on January 18, 1957 to Bill and Lois Savage; he was the youngest of six children.

He went to school in Big Valley from Grades 1 to 9. There he was involved in baseball and hockey. He completed Grades 10 - 12 in Stettler, and then took one year extra to play football. Upon leaving High School he went to work in the oil patch as a battery operator for approximately 32 years. He was involved in Horse Racing, Raising Elk, Buffalo and Jack Russell Terriers.

He enjoyed big game hunting, migratory hunting and fishing for salmon in the Queen Charlotte Islands. His greatest adventure was his trip to Africa on a hunting safari where he brought back lots of memories and photos.

Murray leaves to mourn his loving family: Ron (Judy) Savage of Cochrane, Ann (Harvey) Hall of Calgary, Dixie (Jim) Skocdopole of Stettler and Vicki Savage of Stettler; nieces and nephews: Leslie (Greg), Lori, Jason, Kevin (Kim), Gwen (Marcel) and Greg (Richelle); great nieces and nephews: Anya, Nadia, Westyn, Kristan, Caleb, Alex, Chandler, Bridget, Elliot, Jinger and one great, great niece Brooklynn; other relatives and friends. Murray was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers and both sets of grandparents.

Funeral services were held at Stettler Funeral Home on July 21, 2017 with Pastor Don Wudel officiating. Family friend Verna Rock presented the eulogy. Murray was laid to rest in Botha Woodland Cemetery with his loving family in attendance. Family and friends gathered for a time of fellowship in the Heartland Reception Centre with a luncheon served by Teresa's Catering.
