Maureen AWE

AWE - Maureen Helen - 1967 - 2009. Maureen Awe passed away suddenly on Feb. 7, 2009 at the age of 41 years. Maureen is survived by her much loved children Jesse Awe and Amber Awe, step-children Dennis, Staci and Kyra, spouse Pat Simpson, loving parents Herb and Alleen Awe as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many wonderful friends. Maureen was born in Edmonton, AB and grew up on the family farm near Donalda, AB. As she grew older, Maureen would love to drive the tractor, milk cows and help her parents with the every day farm jobs. She loved the farm with all the animals. She would always be outdoors and always had a pet cat, dog or calf. Maureen became very involved in the 4-H program and remained for the better part of 10 years, going to Bashaw, AB after the Donalda Club disbanded. After completing school in Donalda, Maureen attended High School in Stettler, AB. Here she played volleyball, basketball, curling and also played slowpitch. After graduation, Maureen moved to Red Deer, AB to attend college and become a hairdresser. After obtaining her hairdressing license, Maureen worked at Camrose, AB, Bashaw and Stettle. She then owned her own shop in Stettler for a period of time. She also worked at other jobs including Extra Foods and most recently at Schwartz Home Building Center where she met so many new people and made many friends and also learned that she really liked bowling! Maureen loved to go fishing and camping and more recently she enjoyed big game hunting with Pat. She was a whiz with anything electronic and had dominated many a computer not working to its capacity. Maureen was a mom through and through, attending numerous hockey games and practices, soccer games and running the kids anywhere they needed to be. She was a special part of a close knit family who loved her very much and will truly miss her smile and the warm touch of her hand. A memorial service was held at the Donalda Community Hall on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. Following the interment in the Spruce Coulee Cemetery, family and friends gathered back at the Donalda Community Hall for a time of fellowship and light refreshments.
