Mary Anne

July 2, 1914 - Oct. 20, 2010

Mary Anne Richter was born on July 2, 1914 in Spokane, Washington and passed away peacefully at age ninety-six on October 20, 2010 in Oyen, Alberta with Bill and Julie at her side. Mary was the eldest child of Myra and Henry Bremner. She had four sisters Alice, Bessie, Ruth, and a sister who died in infancy; and one brother Herbert. Mary married William Martin at Valley Centre, Alberta on July 10, 1933. They lived on the family farm, and later purchased their own place closer to Wood Lake School and the town. Together, they worked hard on the farm at Wood Lake, breaking more land and expanding the cattle herd. They had three children, Jean Anne, Marie Dorinne, and William Gordon. After William's passing Mary married Alfred Richter. Mary always grew a large garden, was a good cook and homemaker. She would have been an excellent school teacher or nurse as she was always helping others. She helped on the farm doing everything from the everyday chores to operating the equipment. Mary was the Lousana Cub Scout leader for many years. In later years she was very active in the Drop In centers at Delburne, Stettler, and Lethbridge and enjoyed floor curling and card games. Mary is survived by her son Bill (Julie) Martin; grandsons Nelson (Dawn) Martin, Russell (Sophie) Martin, Randy (Elaine) Rude, Doug (Tracey) Carlson, Craig (Nancy) Carlson, and Eldon (Marion) Carlson; granddaughters Lorie Sloan, Michelle Rice, Lynne Rosenow, Joanne Reaugh, Marilyn (Steve) Pouti, Kim (Quinton) Rude, and Audra (Dean) Dobish; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sister Ruth Greenman.
