Martha "Dove" Caroline McCartney passed away at the Stettler Heritage House on March 18, 2010 at the age of 97 years. Dove was born November 14, 1912 on the family farm in Beaver Hills, near Fort Saskatchewan. She was the eldest child of Wesley & Emma Fluker. Predeceased by her mother in 1919; eldest son, Ronnie, in 1971; her husband, Elmer, in 1972; eldest grandchild, Clint McCartney, in 2003; 2 sisters, Ruby and Doris; and 1 brother, Norman. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Jim (Susan) McCartney of Breton, Bob (Johanna) McCartney of Edmonton; and daughter, Sandra (Dave) Hagen of Stettler. Also remembered by 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 1 brother, Charlie (Adeline) Fluker of Fort Saskatchewan; and 1 sister, Vida (Tory) Westermark of Vancouver. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 5015 144 Avenue, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of One's Choice.
