LARSEN

Marlene

Sept. 24, 1940 - Jan. 20, 2016

Marlene was born to Sarah and Thomas Rowland in Stettler on September 24, 1940. She was the youngest in a family of 13 brothers and sisters. She lived and went to school in Halkirk until grade 9 and then moved to Stettler. She married Irvin Larsen on October 24, 1958 in Stettler and shortly after moved out to the Larsen family farm. Together they had three children, Lloyd (Donna) Larsen of Stettler, Sandra (Terry) Bauer of Stettler, and Sharon Larsen (Stephen McCrindle) of Stettler. Later would come four grandkids, Kyle Larsen, Amy Larsen (Mark Way), Janell (Jonathan) Hurdman, and Charlene (Cody) Broughton, and two great-granddaughters (Lauren and Madeline Hurdman). She is also survived by her brother Bill (Alice) Rowland of Red Deer, sisters Susan (David) Ainsworth of Vancouver and Evelyn (Fred) Milner of Stettler, brother-in-law Gordon McCallum of Stettler, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of many dear friends. Marlene loved family gatherings and was always the first to lend a helping hand and enjoyed getting together to make salads and goodies for family reunions and weddings. She always followed the kids, and later the grandkids, in sports and especially liked ball and hockey. She took pride in her gardening and always had a full vegetable garden and flowers around the farmhouse. She enjoyed listening to old time country music and sitting around the coffee table with friends and family. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stettler Funeral Home. Donations in memory of Marlene may be made to the Omega Circle, S.T.A.R.S. or a Children's Charity.
