STEINHOFF, Marjorie

May 18, 1938 - Nov. 21, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Marjorie Carol 'Marge' Steinhoff (nee Jacobson) in Red Deer on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the age of 78 years. Marjorie grew up on a farm northeast of Donalda; where, at an early age, she became a very competent and responsible farm girl - indoors and outdoors. She was especially fond of cattle, horses, dogs and cats. Soon after completing High School, Marjorie began working at the local bank and continued to do so until she and Howard Steinhoff were married in 1959. Marge and Howard lived on a farm southwest of Donalda for 15 years. Duane was born in 1960, Darren in 1962 and D'Arcy in 1965. In Darren's words, "Mom had a strong passion and interest in horses. She instilled that love for horses in us kids. These were very busy years, which afforded Marge the kind of life she inherently loved ever since she was a little girl. In 1974, the family moved to the Hamlet of Cayley, and three years later, to High River and lived there until 1987, before moving to Red Deer; where she resided the past twenty-nine years. Those who knew Marjorie well will remember her as a very caring and giving person who loved much and many, being certain to include the animals, flowers, and simple things that Our Lord provides - things often times taken for granted. They will know how she loved the great outdoors, gardening and berry-picking, crocheting, knitting, scrabble, listening to music and singing! And those who knew Marjorie very well will take much comfort in knowing that she has now escaped the somewhat surly bonds of earth to be with her Saviour - the one who knows her better than all of us and has every reason to love and care for her, forever and ever. She will always be remembered with love, by her children, Duane, Darren and D'Arcy (Sara); grandchildren, Carol-Anne Roberta Steinhoff, Mitchel Howard Allen Steinhoff, William Christian Kaleb Steinhoff and Haley Rae Steinhoff; sisters, Lorna (Max) Zellweger, Dorothy (Eldon) Raudebaugh; brothers, Arnold (Darlene), Gordon, Stanley, Allen (Helen), Blake and Lyle; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard, parents, Oscar and Margaret Jacobson, an infant brother, Marlin and sisters, Valerie Nelson, Sylvia Webster and Betty Jean Jacobson. A Funeral Service for Marjorie will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Marjorie's honor may be made directly to the Red Deer & District S.P.C.A. at www.reddeerspca.com.
