OLIVE

Marjorie (Kerbes)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marjorie Kerbes Olive on July 21, 2016. Marj was born in Stettler, April 26, 1927. Marj grew up on the family farm about fourteen miles south of Stettler. Marj and her siblings all attended Spring Lake School and later attended high school in Stettler.

Marj cherished and held dear so many memories of growing up a "Kerbes Kid" on the family farm and her wonderful days at Spring Lake School. After graduation Marj ventured to Penticton, BC to work on a newspaper. Upon returning to the family farm Marj was asked by a local business man in Big Valley to help out in his family grocery store.

This job changed her life forever, this is where she met and married her true love William (Bill) Olive. This is where she also met her stepson Ross and the two of them from that point on shared many antics, respect and love for each other.

Marj and Bill had three children together: William James, John David and Marjorie Elizebeth. Marj was an old fashioned stay at home mom raising her children and running the household. She was an avid hockey mom to John, somewhat reluctant curling mom to Bill and a figure skater mom to Marjorie. Marj loved all animals so very much and she enjoyed teasing anyone she could get away with teasing. Her love, her kindness and her compassion made Marj the person she was all the rest of the days of her life.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Melaine, brothers Alec and Archie, her sisters Julia, Hilda, Helen and Geneva; as well as her husband Bill and son John and daughter in law Eleanor.

Marj leaves to mourn her loss stepson Ross Olive (Maggie), son Bill Olive Jr., daughter Marjorie (Ron); adopted son Dale (Brenda) Glass; grandchildren: Kelly (Barry) Olive and Douglas (Jackie) Olive; great grandchildren Reilly Olive and Ethan Olive; brothers Jim Kerbes and Ernie (Irene) Kerbes; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Marj's life will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Big Valley Community Hall. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Stettler Health Services Foundation - Heritage House Recreation c/o
