Marilyn Toews Ensz was born to Walter and Lydia Toews on February 19, 1947 at Linden, Alberta. She peacefully fell asleep on January 18, 2012, after battling cancer for the past 2 years. She reached the age of 64 years. She was the second child in a family of eleven children. Most of her growing up years were spent in the Linden area. At the age of 12 she responded to God's call and gave her heart to the Lord. She was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on February 7, 1960. Her faith was precious to her until the end. On April 6, 1967 she was joined in marriage to Delbert Ensz at Linden. They shared life's joys and sorrows for over 44 years. The first 8 years they spent farming at Pincher Creek, Alberta. Money was scarce, but they made many happy memories. In 1975 Mom and Dad with their family of three little boys packed up and moved to Stettler. Their two girls and two more boys joined the family. Mom and Dad raised us on the family farm. Our family circle was started in heaven with Donnie's death in a farm accident at the age of 16; a time which caused Mom and Dad much heartache. Mom was concerned for the spiritual welfare of her children and grandchildren, often naming each one in prayer. Mom was a dedicated homemaker, spending many hours baking, sewing and gardening, often whistling songs as she worked. Through her hospitable nature, many enjoyed her good bread. Through the years Mom spent hours sewing; patching jeans in earlier years and later sewing pajamas for the grandchildren. In December 2002, Mom and Dad temporarily moved to Bow Island, Alberta but this turned out to be a permanent move. The people here held a special place in Mom's heart. Her compassionate ways made many friends. Mom was a support to Dad in his ministry. She enjoyed scrapbooking and quilting when he was gone to church meetings. In later years she went along with him when her health permitted. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by her husband, Delbert and children; Dale and LeAnn, Leoville, SK, Roger and Lanita, Vanderhoof, B.C, Jeanette and Russell Isaac, Spiritwood, SK., Jeff and Michelle, Stettler, AB., (presently serving in Ethiopia), Lois and Trent Loewen, Spiritwood, SK., and Wes, Bow Island, AB,; as well as seventeen grandchildren. Also surviving her are her mother, Lydia Toews, Linden, AB; six brothers and four sisters; Earl Toews, Linden, AB., George and Rosanna Toews, Stettler, AB., Janice and Gerald Unruh, Bonners Ferry; ID; Cecil and Helen Toews, Bow Island, AB., Anita and Leonard Toews, Linden AB., Grace and David Unruh, Stettler, AB., Merv and Wanda Toews, Stettler, AB., Lorne and Myra Toews, Beaverlodge, AB., Wayne and Sharon Toews, Stettler, AB., Connie and Ray Unruh, Stettler, AB. She was preceded in death by one son, her father and her mother-in-law. Funeral services were held on January 22, 2012 by Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Bow Island, AB. The burial was in the Bow Island Cemetery.
