Marilyn Elaine Thomas (nee Derr)

January 14, 1946 - March 9, 2022
Marilyn Elaine Thomas was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She passed away suddenly on March 9, 2022, at the age of 76.
She was born to Eileen and Erhardt Derr, on January 14, 1946, at the Calgary General Hospital, and grew up on a farm southeast of Acme, Alberta. After graduating from the Calgary General Hospital's Nursing Program, she worked in the communities around Alliance, Alberta, and enjoyed farming and gardening east of Alliance where she lived with her husband Robert (Harvey) Thomas and later welcomed their son Wayne.

Marilyn was a loyal member of the Alliance United Church and United Church Women's group (UCW) and was a skilled organ and piano player in the congregation. She enjoyed coordinating vacation bible school, activities for children and traveling to United Church events.
In 2018, she moved to Calgary to be closer to her family. Marilyn's family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Sage Hill Retirement Residence and Wentworth Manor for the excellent care they provided over the past 4 years.
Marilyn was charitable, considerate and talented in all aspects of her life, and she will be greatly missed by her many family members and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her son Wayne (Shauna-lee) and her 4 grandchildren. Her siblings Carol (Alan) Hough of Calgary, AB, Dale (Karen) Derr of Peterborough, ON, Jeanne (Bill) Taylor of Linden, AB, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many members of the Thomas family.
Funeral Services will be held on March 19, 2022, 11:00 am, at the Acme United Church, 413 Bennett Ave, Acme, AB.
