Margaret Gertrude

Margaret Gertrude Willis passed away peacefully in the Stettler Hospital Complex February 23, 2015 at the age of 94. Margaret is survived by her son Fraser (Nora) Head, Calgary, daughter-in-law Leslie Head, Qualicum Beach, B.C., one brother Gary Ritchie of Calgary, step-children Bob (Kathy) Willis of Stettler, Jeannie Zinger of Coronation, Alan (Carolyne) Willis of Stettler, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Roy Willis, her father and mother Jack and Olga Ritchie, son Murray Head, brothers David, Bill, Donnie, Jack and Jim, sisters Phyllis, Jean, Letty, Dixie and Eileen. Margaret was born on September 19, 1920 on the family homestead in Manyberries, AB. She moved to Stettler with her family where she attended and completed all of her schooling. Margaret graduated from Normal School in Calgary and took her first job as a teacher in the one room Aunger School on the south-east side of Ewing Lake in the County of Stettler. She moved to Bowness and later to Calgary where she raised her two sons and taught grade one at Bowcroft Elementary School for 26 years. Margaret married Roy Willis in September 1976 and moved to Stettler and Rochon Sands for 23 years. Roy and Margaret moved to Heart Haven Lodge, her residence of 17 years until her passing. A family graveside service will be held in the spring. If so desired, donations may be made to the Buffalo Lake Naturalists, in care of Brennen Funeral Home, Box 193, Stettler, AB T0C 2L0
