SCHEERSCHMIDT

Louise Opal

1948-2011

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Louise Scheerschmidt on January 9th, 2011 in New Denver, BC. Louise was born in Coronation, Alberta on February 26th, 1948, to Adolf and Martha (Gwen) Finkbeiner, where she also lived with her sister Barbara and brother Tomas. Louise and her husband Ray (Harold) lived in Squamish, B.C., where Ray worked at Northair Mines, and raised their two sons, Edward (John) and Chuck (Charles). The family arrived in New Denver in 1987, where Louise and her family have remained. Louise had many friends and was always willing to go an extra mile to help them, and her family in any way she could. She enjoyed crafting, sharing her ideas and inspiring others with her love of arts and crafts. She made many true friends. Louise was also an avid bowler and camper, loving the outdoors. Diagnosed with cancer in 2009, she did not let the illness stop her from enjoying life and family. She had a zest for life, and met every day with a bright outlook and a ready smile. Many shared laughs will live on in our hearts forever. Predeceased by her mother and her father, she passed away peacefully with family at her side. Louise is survived by her loving husband Ray (Harold), sons John (Jodi), and Chuck (Sheila). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, Jayson, Zack (Zachery), Ally, Mackenzie, and Dalton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the British Columbia Cancer Society in Kelowna British Columbia, or the Slocan Community Hospital in New Denver.
