ARMSTRONG - GILBERT

Lorrie

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the family of Lorrie Eileen Gilbert - Armstrong announces her sudden passing in Stettler on February 19, 2011 at the age of 53 years. Lorrie was born June 19, 1957 the youngest of five children to Elmer and Eileen Gilbert. Lorrie grew up in Stettler where she attended school until graduation. Lorrie married Steve Armstrong and farmed South of Erskine where they welcomed three children Craig, Kent and Rod. Lorrie became an avid curler to add to her many other athletic talents. Camping, playing ball and sun tanning were more of younger Lorrie's pastimes. Following her divorce to Steve, Lorrie moved to Red Deer, where she worked as a waitress. While in Red Deer Lorrie made a multitude of new friends and spent her time, visiting by the coffee pot and tending to her many flowers and plants. While in Red Deer Lorrie met and married a special man in Doug Wasyk. Lorrie and Doug built a beautiful home in Red Deer and started taking on the role of Grandparents. After Doug and Lorrie went their separate ways, Lorrie moved back to Stettler to be closer to her family, her five grandchildren and a special new companion, Tanner a dog that she loved fiercely. Lorrie had a playful heart and mind and was fond of starting trouble, all in pursuit of a good laugh with her many friends and family. Lorrie also possessed the Gilbert skill in the kitchen, she had an ability to make anything and everything taste wonderful. Lorrie also had a mind for style, whether it be in the clothes she wore or the way she decorated here home. Lorrie will be remembered as a caring, compassionate woman with a genuine love for others. She will be forever missed and always hold a dear place in our hearts. Lorrie leaves to mourn her Mother Eileen Gilbert, sons, Craig (AJ) Armstrong, Kent Armstrong, Rod (Alicia) Armstrong, Grandchildren, Kolby, Kingsley, Kortney, Hailey and Mason. Brothers Donald (Rae) Gilbert, Greg Gilbert, Sisters Wendy Gilbert and Bonnie Daily, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lorrie was pre deceased by her father Elmer Gilbert.
