It is with heavy hearts the family of Lola Melvina (Derr) Stewart announce her passing on February 23, 2018 in Stettler, Alberta.
Lola was born at Duchess, Alberta on July 22, 1925 to Edward and Emma Derr. The first of 11 children. Her family moved to The Gadsby area in 1933.
She met and married Vincent Glen Stewart on September 28, 1946. Lola lived in the Erskine area for the rest of her life.
Lola is survived by her five children: Marjorie Stewart of Big Valley, AB, Allan Stewart of Red Deer, AB, Randy (Elsie) Stewart of Erskine, Bonnie (Richard) Williams of Wardlow, AB and Marian (Chuck) Braun of Markerville, AB.
She is survived by eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters: Edna, Beatrice, Laura, Clara and Carol (Orest); sisters-in-law Grace Derr Selinger, Darlene Derr and Margaret (Stewart) Dunn; great-Aunt Lorraine and Aunt Vera; numerous nieces and nephew and cousins to numerous to list.
She was predeceased by her husband Vince in 1977. Her sister Kathleen, brothers Benny, Les, and Gene. By daughter-in-law Karen Stewart and granddaughter Charity Stewart.
She lived life to the fullest for as long as she was able. She spent her last few months in Heritage House in Stettler, AB where she received the most excellent care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Erskine Hall on April 24, 2018 at 2 P.M. Lunch will be served following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Erskine Cemetery Club or the Buffalo Lake Naturalist Club.
