February 13, 1953 - November 11, 2024
In Loving Memory ~
With great sadness, our family shares the passing of Lois Plett into the open arms of Jesus on November 11, 2024. She is now breathing deeply the fresh air of Heaven.
Lois was born on February 13, 1953, on the family farm south of Erskine. As the second oldest of 9 kids living on a farm, hard work and taking care of family was ingrained into her DNA at an early age. She was one of the many that contributed to the hardworking saying of "Just one of those Boyce women" and, of course, the well renowned embrace of a Boyce hug.
The importance of church community and a genuine love for Jesus was also modeled to her through her parents, Harold and Dorothy. She loved Jesus deeply and her faith and love for Jesus was the cornerstone of her life.
On June 30, 1973, she married Allan Thibeau, they lived in Stettler and raised 3 children; Mike, Sheri, and Joe. Lois worked at the local drug store, IDA, where she was able to connect and care for many community members. Al and Lois were active members of the Erskine Evangelical Free Church and Lois took on many different roles in the church from running the local WMC to serving on the church's hospitality committee.
Their home in the middle of Stettler was a gathering place for many family and friends, a place full of laughter and joy. She stood side-by-side with Al as he battled cancer, and in 1992, she bravely said goodbye to Al.
Lois found love again in Doug Plett of Gadsby. They were married on April 15, 2000 and Lois moved out to the acreage in Gadsby with Doug and step-children Ryan, Amanda, and Matt. Doug and Lois took great pride in having a beautiful yard, with Lois' specialty being her flowers and planters. Lois and Doug always looked forward to their yearly holidays out in Fairmont, BC.
Lois enjoyed watching her children grow into adults but her true joy came with the arrival of grandchildren. She found endless delight in their laughter, accomplishments, and even the simple moments they shared together. Whether offering gentle wisdom, telling stories from her own life, or cuddles on the couch, her love was a constant and unshakable foundation. Her legacy of love will forever be an example and live on in their hearts.
Lois will forever be lovingly remembered by her family: her husband Doug Plett; children: Mike Thibeau, Sheri Thibeau, Joe (Nicole) Thibeau; step-children: Ryan (Robynn) Plett, Amanda (Quentin) Plett, Matt Plett; 10 grandchildren: Keaton, Makayla, Emma, Jetaime, Hadley, Aisley, Brynley, Everley, Wyatt, and Walker.
Lois is predeceased by her first husband, Allan Thibeau, her parents Harold and Dorothy Boyce, her brother, Doug Boyce; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and John Gessleman; and sister, Christine Boyce.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held on November 22, 2:00 p.m., at Erskine Evangelical Free Church in Erskine, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Circle Square Camp at www.csranchhalkirk.ca or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Society of Canada at www.cpff.ca/donate.
One of Lois' favorite verses.
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." ~ Isaiah 26:3 ~
