September 1,1945- February 3, 2011

Laura Irene Traudt, beloved wife of John Traudt of Ponoka, AB, passed away suddenly at the University of Alberta Hospital on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the age of 65. Laura was born on September 1, 1945, at Castor, AB. Laura was born and raised in Castor and attended the Red Deer Marvel Beauty School before moving to Calgary to practice as a hairdresser. She later returned to Castor in 1976 to farm with Johnny and raise her boys. Laura styled hair and drove school bus in Castor until moving to Ponoka in 1990. She lived the remainder of her life dedicated to the elderly of Ponoka, and caring for her husband, Johnny. Her hobbies included gardening, travel and knitting. She is survived by her husband, John Traudt, of Ponoka; children; Cory Renwick (Juanita) of Calgary, AB; Robert Renwick (Dana), of Calgary, AB; two grandchildren, Zachary and Hannah Renwick, of Calgary, AB. She will also be missed by sisters Emelia (William) Ramsay, of Red Deer, AB; Helen (Hilliard) Merchant, of Wetaskiwin, AB, and sister-in-law, Anne Giebelhaus, of Red Deer, AB. Laura was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Conrad Giebelhaus and brother, Roy Giebelhaus. Friends are invited to come and pay their respects at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, February 11, 2011, from 12:30 p,m, to 1:20 p.m., with a service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow the service at Alto-Reste Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura's honour may be made directly to S.T.A.R.S.,1441 Aviation Park N.E., Box 570, Calgary, Alberta, T2E 8M7.
