1931 - 2011

Mr. Kenneth Evertt Muncy, also known as Ken, Grandpa, Great-grandpa and sometimes other names, passed away February 21, 2011 at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre. Ken was born March 3, 1931 in the Stettler Hospital, the fourth child of Howard and Anna Muncy, and spent his entire life on the family farm north of Halkirk. He was a farmer at heart but had a deep desire to build and develop different articles. Some were fairly successful, while other were not. Ken was a life member of the Halkirk Elks and filled all the stations during his membership. He was also on the board of director's for the Forestburg CO-OP Seed Cleaning Plant Ltd. for 35 years. Many hours were spent overseeing the development and building of the plant. Over the years he enjoyed camping, curling, snowmobiling and bowling until his health failed for doing these activities. Ken met Kathy (Halseth) at, of all places, the stampede in Stettler, They were married June 12, 1957 and to this union, four children were born and raised on the farm. In March of 2007, Ken and Kathy moved to their new home in Stettler. Ken is survived by his loving family: wife Kathleen (of 53 years), daughter Rhonda Walgenbach of Gadsby, sons Ronald (Deirdre) of Halkirk, Charlie (Bernita) of Halkirk and Keith (Abbie) of Midland, Texas; seven grandchildren Troy (Dianna), Matthew, Adam, Jonathan, Simon, Avery & Jared; great-granddaughter Hayley; sister Doreen Wood of Ottawa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. Ken was predeceased by his parents Howard (1951) and Anna (2004), brothers Robert and Melvin, sisters Eleanor Moen and Doris Muncy, son-in-law Hally, sister-in-law Mary and brothers-in-law John and Harlen. Funeral services were held at the Halkirk Community Hall on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Ross Helgeton officiating. Pallbearers were Troy Walgenbach, Matthew Muncy, Adam Muncy, Jonathan Muncy, Simon Muncy, Avery Muncy and Jared Muncy. A time of fellowship and refreshments was held in the Halkirk Community Hall with internment following at the Gadsby Omega Circle Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Ken, memorial contributions may be made to the Alberta Lung Association, Stettler Health Services Foundation or the Gadsby Omega Cemetery in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.O.
