PFEIFFER

On Thursday, June 2, 2011 Kenneth George Pfeiffer went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 78 years. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Evelyn, of 56 years as well as his daughter, Julie Pfeiffer of Calgary, son Scott (Sherry) Pfeiffer of Stettler, son James (Sharon) Pfeiffer of Orleans, Mass., daughter Jennifer (Sherman) Fougere of Calgary, daughter Susan (Darrell) Stang of Blackfalds. Also to cherish Ken's memory are grandchildren Curtis, Leyna and Carli Ince, Erin and Jill Pfeiffer, Dan and Rachel Pfeiffer, Drew and Elliot Fougere, Rachelle, Tamara, Nicole, Dagim and Tariku Stang. Ken was born April 26, 1933 in Stettler, Alberta and raised in the Gadsby Red Willow area in his early years by parents John and Sarah Pfeiffer. The family moved to Stettler where John, his father, owned and operated a Livery Barn. Ken continued with his schooling in Stettler. For 13 years of his working life he was an employee and retail Manager of Macleods' stores in Stettler, Edmonton, Nelson, BC., and Olds, AB. In 1967 he left Olds to start his own business by opening up a music store in Stettler called "House of Music". Ken and Evelyn spent the next phase of their life raising their five children, operating their business, and involving themselves in church and community service. Ken served in various areas such as being a member of the Stettler Rotary Club (40 years), serving as a volunteer with Stettler Music Festival, a member and volunteer with the Stettler Trailer and Good Sam Club. Musically, he sang in church choirs, played in the Stettler Rotary Wheels and sang in the Rotary Aires; he also performed in Gilbert and Sullivan, Stettler Community Band and Families Four. Ken and Evelyn regularly sang together for weddings, anniversaries, funerals and many other events. Ken and Evelyn enjoyed their trips during the winter months to their "second home" at Roadhaven Park in Apache Junction, AZ. They made many lifelong friendships during their 25+ years there. Ken was part of the Roadhaven church choir performing at regular church services and in Cantatas. He was also in the Mens' Golf Club, the Billiards and Shuffleboard Club and always enjoyed a good game of cards. Ken and Evelyn were thankful for the many years and wonderful memories of their time in Arizona. Ken enjoyed the 30 years of operating their store "House of Music" later to be renamed “Pfeiffer House of Music” where he formed many great relationships with co-workers, teachers, customers, fellow business friends, and suppliers. All of Ken's family worked in the business at some point in their careers, and son Scott stayed on to take over the business in 1986. Ken and Evelyn have always been proud to call Stettler home. A memorial and celebration service of Ken's life will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church 57th St. and 48th Ave. in Stettler at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011. Donations in Ken's memory may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church building fund, Stettler and District Music Festival or to a charity of one's choice c/o
