CARLSON, Kendall


Kendall Carlson was born August 9, 1927 to Robert and Ida Carlson in Stettler, Alberta. He grew up on the family farm four miles north of what is now Walmart. He went to school at Silver Prairie School. He sang at many concerts as well as some weddings as a small boy.

He moved to Edmonton and drove taxi where he met Elizabeth Jean Maclean who he dated for two dates and dared her to marry him which she did on February 15, 1951. They spent the next 66 years traveling, dancing and singing through their lives.

They started their family with their daughter Caroline on January 6, 1952 and their son Dale on April 12, 1959. He always wanted to move back to the family farm which in 1960 he bought the home place from his parents.

Kendall played pool for many years and was the Alberta Senior Champion. He started the singing group the Treble Makers which he sang in until going to Yuma each winter got in the way. He also sang in many musicals such as Pirates of Penzance and Fiddler on the Roof. Kendall and Betty took many holidays to Mexico, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the British Isles. His life came to an end on

June 1, 2017 after a short fight

with cancer.

Kendall Carlson is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Betty; daughter Carol (Charles) Dixon, son Dale Carlson, grandchildren: Kendall Jr., Catherine, Christina, Justin; great grandchildren: Christian, Luke, Alexander, William, Sadie, Michael, Jonathan, Duncan, and Aurora; foster son Christopher Thauberger and his son Blaine, daughter Tammy Lepard; other relatives and many friends. Kendall was predeceased by his parents Ida and Robert, Betty and Kendall lost three sons and two daughters due to the RH Factor, his sister Melva, three brothers Clifford, Emil and Lloyd.
