KOSTENUK, Kathleen "Kit"
Kathleen "Kit" Kostenuk of Bashaw, Alberta passed away on May 4, 2010 at the age of 86 years. Kit was born on May 22, 1923 in Henley, England to Gilbert and Lilian Rogers. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1925, and homesteaded in the Alix area. She attended school in Alix and later worked for the Royal Bank until her retirement in 1984. She married Jim Kostenuk in 1951 and together they raised two children, Sandra and Neil, in Bashaw. Kit enjoyed a happy and healthy life with friends and family, especially spoiling and telling tales to her grandchildren at her favorite place, the cabin at Pelican Point. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sandra (Lonnie) Backen and son Neil (Terry) Kostenuk of Bashaw; her grandchildren Lori, Graham and Kerri; sister Mabel (Melvin) Tarzwell as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, grandson Steven, brothers Joe and Harold and her sister Edith. A Service of Remembrance was held at the Bashaw United Church on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Robin King officiating. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Bashaw Health Centre Palliative Care Unit or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
