ANDERSON
John Calvin Anderson passed away peacefully May 26, 2012 at Stettler Health Care Centre, Heritage House at the age of 83 years.
John was born in Alliston, Ontario on August 2, 1928 to Mary and Robert Anderson. John married his school sweetheart Eileen in 1950 and started farming. Their son Bob was born in Alliston. In 1989 John and Eileen moved to Stettler to be closer to Bob and family. John always said if you have good neighbors and friends where you came from, you'll have good neighbors and friends where you go; and the saying became so true.
John's love of farming, raising cattle and horses were very important to him. He liked to carpenter, building many things, like sleigh and covered wagons that were important to all of us.
John leaves his wife Eileen; son Bob; granddaughters Leah (Chris) and their children Alexandra and Anna; Jamie (Leon) and their children Jenna and Cameron, who were the love of his life.
Funeral services were held at the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home on May 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mervyn Penfound officiating. Pianist Elaine Hennel presented her gift of music. Tribute was by friend Matthew Rogers. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery in Botha, Alberta with Bob Duchscher, Vern Dempsey, Henry Nielsen, Gordon Nitschke, Garth Benjamin and Terry Andersen as pallbearers. Family and friends gathered for a time of fellowship and a luncheon by Teresa's Catering.
