ROCKARTS

1934- 2011

Jean Mathew Rockarts, beloved husband of B. Mae Rockarts, of Red Deer, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the age of 77. Jean was born on March 9, 1934, in Pouce Coupe, B.C. Jean walked his path in life with integrity, dependability and righteousness. His first love was his wife and daughters. With the addition of son-in-laws and grandchildren, more happy times were to follow. He was involved in playing sports-badminton, tennis, baseball, swimming, bike riding and racquetball. As a young man he worked on a farm, in a garage, and as a stock controller for an airline in Edmonton, before moving to Stettler to work in Jim Walker's Mens Wear. Here, he learned the business step by step, later forming a partnership and buying the business. With the help of a great staff, the business grew. In 1990, he sold the store, and joined Investors Group for four years. While retired, he worked with a dear friend in H&R Block during tax season. All the while being the best Dad he could be to his beautiful daughters. Jean's faith in the Gospel, and fulfilling his callings in the Church, gave him the understanding of how important each of us are to our Savior. He enjoyed all the people he was privileged to work with in his various callings. Jean is survived by his loving wife, Bertha Mae Rockarts, and five daughters: Rena (Bill) Vanson, Rhonda (Yvon) Pelletier, Ardena (Roger) Carlton, Adela (Joe) Chalifoux, and Susan (Shane) Kuhn and his grandchildren: Kjorven (Stephanie), Drew (Devin), Patryk (Dawn), Bowman (Ashton), Riley (Alicia), Tyson, Lee T., Nicole, Trevor, Leslie, Morgan, Taylor, Brett, Bryson and Rayden; and great grandchildren: Laine, Jensen, and Birkley. Jean is also survived by his siblings Rene (Linda) Rockarts, Helen (Gordon) Smallwood, Robert (Clare) Rockarts and Maurice (Jean) Rockarts, sister-in-laws: Iris Rockarts, Betty (Alek) Grywalski, brother-in-laws: Glenn Clark, Alex Clark and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will take place at Eventide Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 9:00 -11:00 am.
