DAMBERGER

Janice Fay

It is with immense sadness that the family of Janice Fay Damberger announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 53 years. Janice leaves to mourn her passing; her daughter, Courtney, her sister, Brenda (Paul) Roy, her nephew, Trevor (Tammi) Roy, and their three daughters: Isabelle, Katelyn and Sophia; all of Red Deer, Alberta. Janice will also be deeply missed by her numerous cousins, aunts, colleagues, and close friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Lyle Maxwell Damberger and Sheila Ivadell Damberger. Janice was born January 18, 1956 in the Stettler Hospital and; as a child, was raised on the farm until she moved with her family into the town of Stettler. She received her education in Stettler and graduated from William E Hay High School. As a young person, she enjoyed bowling and participated in the Provincial Youth Finals; having fun with her friends and working her part-time job at the Jewel Theatre in Stettler. After school, Janice worked at the Syncrude plant in Fort McMurray, took a travel consultant course in Edmonton, and was employed at Michener Centre. After having Courtney in 1989, Janice wanted to spend as much time at home with her daughter as she could and found the shift work at Michener just wouldn't work. Therefore, she went to Red Deer College and obtained her Educational Assistant Certificate. She then obtained employment with the Red Deer Public School Board where she worked until her illness did not enable her to return in September 2008. Janice had many attributes including her sense of humor and her kindness. She had a heart of gold which she displayed in her work with the many special needs and troubled youths that she worked with. She loved this work and received much satisfaction when she was able to help them. She was very special to several of them in that she was able to connect with, in a way no one else seemed to attain. Her love for her family and friends never faltered and you could always count on her to be of help if you had a need. We shall always remember the laughs and giggles we shared and the famous Janice "one liners" that you sometimes may have missed if you weren't listening carefully. A Celebration of Janice's life will be held on Monday July 6, 2009 at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta at 1:00 p.m.

If desired; memorial tributes in Janice's memory may be made to Camp Alexo, 4633-49 Street, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 1T4 or the CDN Liver Foundation, 2235 Sheppard Avenue E. Ste. #1500, Toronto, ON M2J 5B5. Condolences can be forwarded to the family at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
