Isabelle Jenny Norris

It is with gratitude for a life well lived that the family of Isabelle Jenny Norris announce that she passed away April 11, 2022 at the age of 101 years. She left her earthly home to be with her Lord, passing peacefully while attended by members of her loving family at South Health Campus, Calgary. Isabelle was predeceased by her parents David and Annie Brown, husband Galen Clark Norris, daughter Gayle Anne Howard, four brothers David, Allen, James and Leonard Brown, and two sisters Helen Combest and Edith Olhausen.
Isabelle was the first of ten children born to Dave and Annie Brown in the Erskine-Stettler area of Central Alberta. She married Galen Norris on November 1, 1942, and during the 15 years Galen served as the MLA for the Stettler Constituency Isabelle took an active and well- informed interest in politics which continued on through her life. In 1971 Isabelle and Galen moved to Calgary where she devoted her time to her family, sharing her gift of hospitality and inviting people into their home. They both loved to travel and enjoyed many years RVing in British Columbia and Arizona. Isabelle was an active member of Abundant Life Church where she had many close friends, always asking how everyone was doing and taking a keen interest in the recent new church building project.
To rejoice in her memory, Isabelle leaves behind her son-in-law Allen Howard, daughter Jo and son-in-law John Allen, all of Calgary; six grandchildren, Glen Gibbons, Shawn (Crystal) Howard, Lori (Chris) Roczkowsky, Dan (Laura) Allen, Patricia (Michael) Swalm, and Christine (Mike) Erickson; and 15 great-grandchildren Faith, Braden, Ethan, Hunter, Grace, Ashley, Hudson, Jaden, Bella, Cole, Emma, Elena, Eden, Ben and Hope; also three sisters Alice Norris, Gladys Anderson and Audrey (Wally) Ward, and sister-in-law Marian (Dave) Kaufman; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Abundant Life Church, 3343 49 Street SW, Calgary T3E 6M6, on Saturday April 30th at 1:00 pm with Rev. Michael Swalm officiating. In lieu of owers, if friends and family so desire, tributes in memory of Isabelle may be donated to the “ALC Building Artwork Project“ that Isabelle was so passionate about (mailing address above).
