Ina Elisabeth Schiffner passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Stettler at the age of 87 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Jake in 1976, parents Leila and Otto Sorge, sister Alma and brothers Irvin and Alec.
Ina was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta and married Jake on August 25, 1952 in Pincher Creek. Jake and Ina together with their three sons moved to Stettler in 1965, where she resided until 2017. She was a homemaker and proud of it, whether baking, cooking, canning, or gardening.
Ina always kept active and could often be seen shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, helping at church functions and always having time for family and friends. Ina loved to entertain in her home, whether a simple coffee or a formal dinner.
She was a passionate sports fan and loved to golf. One of her golfing highlights was winning the women's member guest tournament with her former daughter-in-law Tory.
Ina will be sadly missed by her sons Dale, Lonnie (passed away January 3, 2018) (Denise) and Glenn; grandchildren Janelle (Jeremy), Taryn, Jake and Katrina and her extended family and friends.
A celebration of Ina's life was held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Stettler, with Pastor Jonathan Aicken officiating. Tributes were given by Glenn Schiffner of loving memories of Mom and on behalf of the grandchildren Katrina Schiffner gave loving memories of grandma. Musician Scott Pfeiffer presented his gift of music.
Ina was laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery with her husband Jake. Family and friends gathered in the Education Wing of St Peter Lutheran Church for a time of fellowship and a luncheon by the Lutheran Ladies.
