Shepherd, Martha Gust and Rita Gust. Hulda was predeceased by her parents; Gotlebb and Hulda Gust, sisters Ida Kitzman, Mickey Skjel, brothers John and Gary Gust, husband Dave Shepherd, sons Alan and Don Shepherd, sister and brothers-in-law Constance LeCerf, John Shepherd and Emile Kitzman, nieces and nephews Dorothy and Lorraine Kitzman, Gary Kitzman (infant), Shawn LeCerf, grandchildren and grandson Carl Roberts Shepherd (infant). Hulda was born on the farm in Bashaw AB, on Feb. 12, 1933. She attended a country school up until ninth grade. From school she moved to Camrose, AB, to find work. She moved in with three other girls into a boarding house. She found work in a local restaurant. This is where she met her husband Dave who had been working on the rigs at the time. They got married on Oct. 26, 1951. They lived in several communities and houses where they raised their seven children. They were married for 47 years. She worked for several years at Morleys, then the Club Café, IGA, G&H then at the IGA. Mom worked at G&H for over 20 years. She took early retirement at the age of 60. Retirement allowed her to do what she loved to do knit, sew and crochet for her friends and family. Many afghans, dish cloths, towels, pajamas, and sweater sets were the fruit of her labour and will provide many warm memories to those who received them. Mom lived at her current residence (before her passing) for 42 years. Everyone knew where Hulda¹s house was. It was a stopping grounds for many lunch breaks and coffee for children, grandchildren and friends. She was always willing to feed a hungry stomach. She loved to always lend a helping hand in whatever capacity she could from collecting soup labels for the school, pop tabs for diabetes to canvassing for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She helped her neighbours to pick vegetables and fruit so it would not go to waste. And she loved to garden. Many times she held conversations with people who would stop to compliment her on her flowers and garden. Precious memories to hold dear in our hearts! God speed Mom and God bless you and keep you! A funeral service was held at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Karl Faltin officiating. The active pallbearers were grandchildren James Shepherd, Mike Shepherd, David Shepherd, Matthew Church, Lucas Church and Amanda Shepherd. Organist Doug McKay played for the congregational hymns and the solo was sung by LeeAnn Kinderwater. Interment followed the service in the Lake View Cemetery. A reception and fellowship followed and was served by the Stettler
