RITZ - Hugh (Hugo) Ritz Jan. 21, 1921 – July 20, 2008. Hugh was born in Bessarabia, Rumania on Jan. 21, 1921 to Wilhelm and Hulda Ritz. Hugh went to Edmonton, AB and took up welding, which he enjoyed very much. He married Eva Dahl, from Big Valley, AB. Together they had three girls and one boy (Carol, Allen, Judy & Twyla). Hugh married again in Jan. 3, 1998 to Lillian Albright from Stettler, AB and they had ten wonderful years together. Hugh had God fearing parents and he accepted Jesus as his Saviour early in life, and was not ashamed of God who was his guide through life. He loved hunting, golf, wood-working, making canes out of natural wood and art in any medium. He was a member of “Artist North” and the “Peace Water Color Society”. He played ball with the seniors and entered art and wood craft in the Senior summer games, and took his share of medals from gold to bronze. Hugh will be sadly missed by his loving wife Lillian; daughters: Carol (Ed) Adams of Edmonton, Judy (Mark) Whelpton of Grande Prairie, AB and Twyla (Stephen) Rogers of Beaverlodge, AB; grandchildren: Tammy (Dwain) Cunday, Stephen Adams, Carla (Chris) Shkwarok and Daniel Whelpton; great-grandchildren: Brayden, Benjamin and Kayla; his sister Frieda; brother Erwin and wife Mary and many friends. He was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers: Rudy, Albert, Helmut; sisters: Emma and Alice; and his son Allen and first wife, Eva. Viewing and Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 7-8 p.m. from Oliver’s Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel (10005-107 Ave). Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Brennen Funeral Chapel in Stettler, AB. Memorial donations may be made to the Gideon’s Bible Society or a Charity of One’s Choice.
