O'NEILL

Hugh J. O'Neill

Sept. 9, 1958 to Mar. 4, 2010

Hughie came to Alberta from Northern Ontario as a young man in the late 70's. He worked power line, rigs, well tested and drove truck before settling on his dream job as a Utility Arborist. He loved to be outside climbing trees.

He settled in Lloydminster where he married and his first two children were born; Katie in 1989 and Darby in 1990. In the fall of 1991 Hugh moved his family to Erskine where his youngest son, Cameron was born in 1992. Hughie loved music, reading, fishing, hunting and camping but his greatest joy came from watching his children participate in sporting events. In the winter months he drove hockey players; in the summer, ball and in between there was football, basketball and volleyball. He was immensely proud of his children's achievements both athletically and academically. He could find humour in almost any situation and nothing or no one was safe from his jokes. He contracted MS in 1995 and succumbed to the disease in March of 2010. He is now at peace and out of pain. Through the years Hugh made many good friends and valued the good times he shared with them. This is his goodbye to all; "To all of you whom I shared a laugh and a glass remember the good times of the past. The rest of you can all just kiss my ___."

In lieu of flowers a donation to the MS Society (Central Alberta Chapter) would be appreciated.
